EMBERWAKE (playtest build v0.46)

The last maglev of the night never reaches its stop. You wake in the Emberwake, a world of ash beneath a dead sun, with fire in your hands and a name you almost remember. Somewhere out there is Qing. Somewhere out there is the way home.

A single-player, offline loot ARPG with a hand-told story.

- Four acts: the furnaces of the Cinderworks, the frozen Glass Tundra, the Storm Archive and the neon city of Neon Harbour.

- Grow into your build: support sockets open as your character levels, from two links at the start to six at level 45. Find support gems in chambers, earn them from guardians, or buy them at the forge.

- 24 active skills and 37 support gems, all levelling from shared kill XP. Every gem you own can link to any skill.

- A 1,300-passive skill web, 100 character levels, rare items with prefixes and suffixes, relics that shape whole skill families, a grid backpack and stash tabs.

- An endless atlas after the story: a hex map of maps from tier 1 to tier 15. Every tier is clearly tougher, with monsters that hit harder and bosses built to last.

- Bosses with telegraphed wrath attacks that grow faster and fiercer with each tier.

- Hand-designed rooms with levers, seals, lightning towers and security cameras.

- Camps full of people to question, things to examine and quiet hints. The story is told in fragments, not cutscenes.

- New Game+ and more than one ending.

- Traditional Chinese, English and Japanese (日本語). Switch with "語言 / Language" on the title screen or in the Esc menu.

This is a work in progress shared for playtesting. Controls are on the title screen's Controls page. Windows may warn that the file is unrecognised; choose "More info", then "Run anyway". The game is simply not code-signed. No install or internet needed.
